Every day brings us a little closer to the street, I bought some Renthal road bars today, and finally got rid of those hideous straight bars that were fitted, they were so wrong, in that the master cylinder could not be levelled due to hitting the fork tops! Of course fitting new bars brings more work though, I now have to re-route the clutch cable back to the correct position, (I think I will fit a new one as I will have to take the old one off anyway, has anybody tried the Barnett cables) as it had been run all over the place to loose the length cause by the flat bars.
I then had to remove the tank and dissconect both control looms, and re-run those, again due to the flat bars, the PO had wrapped the looms around the headstock. I also fitted a new tacho cable, the old being chewed up from being caught in the steering/frame stops.

I have to say though, she looks pretty sharp with these new bars fitted.

Pimp my Ride.

I could do with having a new center nut made, but it has been aqua blasted. makes the rest look shabby now, but I am sure a few miles will sort that.

Not sure really Jack, myself and padders both saw it for sale on the US e-bay, after padders bid was beaten by someone I placed abid in the last few minutes and won it.
It is a period (70's) sand cast Drag racing item like the MRE covers for a lock up clutch, apparently the guy who sold it said these are rare even in the US.

Anyway, something a little different.

Silencer mod is on hold at this time, but only as I am trying to get the bike running for the Bucks meet, so I have had the original silencer welded up, and have located a second Kerker silencer that is coming in from the US, so that gives me a bit of lee way to get things done.
I have these carbs to rebuild, with the full rebuild kits I located in the US, so I may do that this weekend, as I now have some new fuel lines too.

So it's like this

I have rebuilt a spare set of carbs, with all new everything, 120 mains, 17.5 pilots, as recomended by wired george, for pods and 4-1 pipes, well she started right up on full choke and revs way too fast, but dies when trying to rev off the choke! I have set the air screws out at 1-1/2 turns, so I think they need setting up, I may have this done while she goes for an MOT.
I also had a bad oil leak from my new clutch cover, but this turned out to be a badly fitted gasket, my fault.

So I am definatley making progress, and the Bucks rally is looking good.
