Fox just dropped a test across my Dyna s coils i get 3.3 ohms primary resistance and 28k ohms secondary on both sets give or take!!!
This is with leads and caps on,look at the sheet Al(Zorded) has sent you it gives the values you should get for various coil types are you sure your secondary resistances are not K ohms i would guess they are, looking at the figures on Als sheet...Cheers Paul J

To be honest I don't think it will be the coils.

Please explain this better:
"It will idle but you go to give it gas just drops dead" does that mean it won't rev or cuts out and you have to restart? If the latter does it restart quickly?

My secondary tests are in ( k)"S not ohm's with no wires on just the coils

and with there spec sheet it should be 13.5k to 14.5k

Mine start out cold at 14.7k and going to hot at 15.7k

And my Primary resistance starting out at 3.4 ohms cold and going to 3.7ohms hot

and there spec sheet say's it should be 2.9 to 3.2 ohms

and your coils seem to be i spec with there chart

when i first start it up it runs good and will rev up but as soon as the bike starts to warm up you go to rev it it breaks up real bad to the point it will die

it will restart but it still breaks up at idle and will just idle but you can feel it breaking up as soon as you give it gas it is breaking up and die's

But when it's cold again it runs fine and smooth all the power is there

Mine was similar to this after i did a silly thing with the wiring and split one of the Green coils completely in half and it killed one of the Dyna pickups too.
The coil was obvious but the telling thing with the pickup was white goo pouring out the back.
I put a borrowed Dyna plate and pickups on it and it instantly cured it.

1980 is very old for those coils!!

If you want to listen to it 'running out of sparks' tune the radio in and move the ariel close to the bike.
Cant remember the frequency but from memory about 95 or so on FM i think.
Very telling.

Check the chokes out.

Are your coils getting physically hot?

Are the coil low tension screws touching something when they get warm?

Do you have a loose connection, has a wire become trapped, is it melting through?

Have you rotated the inserts the low tension screws go into - the low tension side of the Dyna coil has a thin wire which breaks if you turn the inserts.

Swap the Dyna S out for your points which will prove that.
