Nissin calipers bracket template

#1 PostAuthor: ukcoupe » Mon Aug 01, 2011 8:55 pm

I've been reading on the site that Nissin calipers off early GSXR's are the way to go to improve stopping power for not too much dosh on our Zeds. (I've got an A2)
I know that a bracket will have to be used to make them fit correctly, but I just wondered if anyone had a template for such a bracket?
Also, is there any particular type of caliper I should go for?

Cheers lads,

Chris

A set of Nissins just went on Ebay recently with adapter plates. Would be great if the buyer is one of our members and would post up a template for us to copy. Nissins are great and plentiful ...Here is the Ebay ad

yeah, I know. I was outbid by £2 at the last minute! :(
A template would be great though.
Someone must have done this and could bang out a quick sketch of the dimensions... anybody?

calipers were delivered today but dont fit on two things, the calipers hit the spokes and the bracket mounts are out by about 5-6mm, he did add to the listing that he "thought" they may have been off his st about 15yrs ago so may fit an alloy wheel, are the caliper mounting holes the same on the 1000st and 1000 a1?

z1000 st calipers had a different mounting bracket to z1000a1/a2, as the st bike had leading axle forks, if memory serves me right :??

If I was you I'd look at the calliper design from std to the opposing piston 4 pots and see if you have enough clearance when fitted on the disk. A piece of hardboard will make a template, but you may find you have to space the disks and forks to accommodate them. Meaning new yokes which in turn means it would probably be better to stick a new front end in.

i have Nissin calipers on my Z900 but it's a bit of a hybrid. I have CMA wheels and GPz Unitrak forks but am happy to take photos and measure if anyone thinks it would be useful?
