Rotor removal - Z900 A4

Suggestions on how to get it off? I have a set of flywheel pullers but none has a small enough central bolt to screw in to what must be M10 (?) hole.

I tried doing up the bolt with a large washer through a ring spanner with an air wrench but it does not shift. I dont want to give it too much torque in case i break the bolt off.

Not a lot going right this weekend guys so give me an easy fix!

The LARGE bolt that threads into the rotor thread (not the crank) should only contact the crank, so it pushes against it - no washers as it shouldn't touch the rotor face

Just do the bold up tight (think a top yoke bolt fits) then whack the end with a lump hammer Then tighten bolt a bit more and hit again - repeat until it falls off - they usually fall off after firsts clout

On a standard Z rotor that is the case but this is not standard. There is no internal thread on the rotor. Front face of the rotor sits flush with the end of the taper on the crank. Hence my issue and the question!!

Best to try and get some sort of force pulling/pushing it off the crank & apply a few diligent whacks to "shock" it off. Obviously the rotor is a bit soft so aiming the impact is best carefully done. You may need to spend some time - gently does it, catchy monkey

So a * legged puller would reach behind the rotor an wind up its central bolt onto the end of the crank ?
Or would that be too brutal to the outside diameter of the rotor .

Here is a couple more pictures to show set up. I'm not worried about damaging the rotor - it is f**ked anyway hence the need to remove.





I have a 3 legged puller but it is for cars and I cant get behind it.

If anyone has a more suitable puller i would be glad of the loan and happy to give beer vouchers to say thanks

I have a two legged puller Martin that i think would do the job , i will take some pics and measurements later and post them up .

Martin, I have a small-ish three legged puller, been out & measured it. I reckon if you have 7-8mm behind your rotor it will do the job.
I can post it on Monday if you think it will work for you.

There's my small puller , but if Steve's will do the same job then its no bother ,
getting the bast off is the main issue

Just a suggestion can you not grind a bit off of the bottom of the puller hooks to enable them to go under, then heat the rotor to expand it, should come off easier then.

Kev, my puller is too big and needs too much grinding.

If Steve's is a similar size to Z1parr's then it should work.

I did not try heat as was worried I might do damage but who cares!!

Martin are you reusing the rotor if not drill it tap use a bit of flat as a puller then, i've done this myself to get a hub off before and it works.
