thou shed grime to shine

#1 PostAuthor: mirror man » Tue Jul 12, 2011 9:39 pm

here we go this my z1000a1 project/rebuild, the good points are its a zed the bad points are almost everything, it doesent seem to have had an easy life, the plan is to give it lots of tlc & to bring it back to something half tidy, it's not gona be a show winner just a tidy bike for a bit of fun in the sun, the plan is to keep it fairly standard, here's some pics of the old girl as she arrived mm

thou shed strip

#6 PostAuthor: mirror man » Thu Jul 14, 2011 8:52 pm

bike now stripped, the frame had been repainted but the prep was poor so it will get the powder coat treatmet
Image
frame back from paint strip/chemical clean
Image
having bought the bike not running i was informed the engine was in good working order and the plan was if it runs ok leave it, but i thought i would do a dry build at an early stage to check it out
Image
things did,nt go to well it would only run on 2 or three cylinders and sounded like an old bag of spanners , i could now sense a strip was on the cards took off the side casing to find this little suprise

I already know a lot of this story, but it's making a very interesting read Alan, keep it coming. Hopefully it will be an inspiration to others.
