Side stand bolt

#1 PostAuthor: bigalhudson » Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:32 am

My side stands been rattling a while so had a look this morning. The bolt which holds it on is stripped so cant get any decent tension on it. Any body got a spare? or its off to Z Power

Is the bracket on the frame it screws into/through meant to be threaded on the rear 'flange' or is it just retained with the nut?

Cheers
Al

Tried to heat up the flange on the stand leg with me plumbers torch and close it up a bit but just know the bastard will crack before it bends. Maybe a good excuse to by some Oxycet kit :D

Hi Al,
no need to heat and bend the side stand mounts - I had this problem on mine.
Fixed it by sticking a stainless washer under the bolt head - machined down so you can't see it sticking out. This allows the bolt to close up the stand mount slightly when it's tightened. Otherwise the shoulder stops it doing this. Try it - it works honest. From Mark.
If I can find a spare bolt i'll pm you.

The washer trick works and stops the paint / chrome / nickel getting knackered when tightening down.
