Wheel building problem

#1 PostAuthor: nealblath » Wed Jun 22, 2011 8:37 am

I have just rebuilt my Z1A wheels with new stainless spokes and stainless rims from Central Wheel Components.

No problem building them and trueing them up but where the rims are butt welded, there is a bump which I cannot flatten out no matter what I do. The rims run within 30 thou both radially and axially but this bump is driving me nuts. Both front and rear wheels are the same.

Suppose I will have to live with it but has anyone else had a similar problem?

Central wheels have been in business for a long time .. It sounds as so this bump is unacceptable. I would talk to them re-replacing them! Particularly, if the bump is visible noticeable.
