Wiring problem

Hi, i am rebuilding my KZ900 and took lots of pics when i dismantled it, especially the wiring location. unfortunately i have put the images in such a safe place (or binned them ) that i can't find them.

my question is, i need to find out how the wiring should be positioned around the airbox going down to the connector and fuse box and also the opposite side. if any one could help with pics or advice i will be more than happy to listen.

The problem I had was trying to put the main harness around the air-box.

i looked at the info and i am sure the wiring harness went around the airbox, although the info has been helpful. is there anybody that can give me the defacto information

I bought a replacement Z900-A4 wiring harness from Klasmo. It appears to be the right one, as all wires and connectors are in the right place, but the new harness doesn't have a brown plug. There are 6 wires where the brown plug should be. Does anyone have any tips on how to connect the old brown plug to the new harness or is there something else I should do to get around it?

Look at the wires on your old loom and make a note of where they go in relation to the plug (the plug can only fit one way). Then pay a visit to these people:

They sell the correct male and female connectors for plugs - they have a locating latch to hold them in the plug.

Buy the ones you need for your plug.

Get a small screw driver and bend the locating latch flat on the connections in your old plug and then push out the connectors from the plug.

Strip the ends of the wires of your new loom and crimp the new connectors on. Push them into the old plug (in the same relationship as your old loom) until the latch clicks into place. Job done.

If you manage it you're oding better than me. VWP do however have plenty of multi way plugs and sockets , but you won't get any the same as the originals

I bought one of their professional packs (caseload of connectors and plugs) and about a third were compatible with the Japanese plugs. These were mainly the six, four and two pin connectors. They're all white though - no colours. I wasn't actually looking to match them to the originals - I've no qualms about cutting off the original plugs and putting on new replacements. As it happens the one that I did need to replace (fuel level sender under the tank) was one of those that matched.

Anyhow - in tpr's case it doesn't matter as he just needs the connectors that fit inside the plug (these are universal) and can re-use his original.

But ... if someone does want the exact same plug as old Japanese bikes - try going to a car scrappy and looking out some old H0ndas and Suzukis. I've found plenty of matches from behind the dashboards and they're all brand new-looking.
