Whats the members views on engine flushing oils ?

Pasc, I got some a few years ago, but never got round to using it.
Some people just warm the engine, empty old oil, then top up with cheapo Woolworth stuff and run for 5/10 mins, ditch that, then refill with the good stuff. :shock: Why you need to flush, or is it just coz you fancy giving it a go :?:
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Hi pasc you should try the stuff Wurth make it seems to do the job,you just add it to your old oil run the bike for five minutes then drain.

Cheers guys, Mr Pigford, I did give it a go a couple of years ago on one of my turbos. Haven't a clue how effective it was. The reason I ask is after removing the cams from my 1000j I found 6 scored cam bearings and scored cam journals so thought I'd see what the general concensus was here before trying it out again.

DON'T do it especially on a TURBO motor
as above a quick change of normal oil will be sufficent

you say scoring - does it look like bits in the oil has caused this or a let down or under oiling causing a seizing / welding effect?

make sure you have a magnetic sump plug

Nick, it looks like some small particle has passed through scoring the shells slightly.
