Well I should find out soon !

I`m collecting my head tomorrow and should have the engine in minus the top end as soon as Maine gives me some help.

I have everything I need now apart from the cases which are with Mikey.

My plan is to change the oil and filter as soon as I have run it hot enough to make the preliminary adjustments bearing in mind I have rebuilt the carbs and will need to do valve clearances as well.

I`m ready to put my barrels back on but can`t remeber how these pesky fellas go. Any ideas ?

There are some blind channels but they don`t secure in anywhere.

Chris
They go into the holes not occupied by the engine studs, enter in to the bottom face of the block, thin end in first. You will probably have to secure them with some of your black instant gasket as they are the originals, they should sit flush with the face, should be 8 of them
Regards
Steve

Brilliant. Thanks Steve.

And I`m sorry for knocking your engine off its stand today and chipping the paint

It`s looking good. How long before it`s ready ?

If they're the originals they'll be rock hard and wont be any use anyway, I'm not convinced they're any use even when new but as has been said you'll probably have to stick them in.

Steven. You`re right they are rock hard and sound like they`re made of metal.

I can only assume they stop crap from forming on the gasket face which is exposed because of the drilling holes ?

Chris I believe that they are supposed to be damper rubbers to stop vibration noise but If you can tell the difference between brand new soft rubber ones and having none at all well your a better man than me because I couldn't.

Looking really good Chris.
Question; are you going to coat it with something? Was thinking ACF 50 or the like or are you going naked!!!
Interested to hear youre thoughts.

I had my JOTA cases blasted like this and left them for five years without any deterioration. Conversely the J cases have been done and painted immediately afterwards. Any edges or corners and up pops Mr. corrosion. Doesnt seem fair really but there it is.
