popping and banging

#1 PostAuthor: watty » Tue Mar 09, 2010 2:02 pm

Anyone help me on this one.
Put a new Vance And Hynes pipe on my KZ1000 and bike has started popping and banging when i shut the throttle have not rejetted the carbs yet.
Second point is that the bikes acceleration is not to hot and struggles to get above 5500 and 6000 revs any ideas.
Cheers
Watty

Needs bigger mains or.......

I had put the pipe on the previous autumn and all was okay. Over the winter I fitted a new ignition and a K&N filter. That spring it would pull okay til 5K and then it fell on it's face. The P/O had the snorkel out of mine when I bought it and while trouble shooting the thing I put that back in and hey presto, no more falling on it's face.

What are you running for airbox etc ?

IT COULD BE A LOOSE BATTERY LEAD OR PILOT JETS BLOCKED OR MANIFOLD RUBBER SLIT OR MAIN JETS CHECK YOUR BATTERY FIRST

Hi all,
is the tank clean? I had this trouble, it was rusty bits blocking the reserve filter inside the fuel tank, ..........
