Early Z1 speedo on left. More common type on the right.

The white line at the "20" increment is at the base of the "20" on the 72 speedo. It is placed in the middle on the later type. These are commonly referred to as 72 and 73 speedos but the fact is that quite a large number of Z1 built in late 72 have what is called the 73 speedo. I "think" that the 72 type would be found on the first couple of thousand Z1's but don't have a definitive answer as to the cut off date or number.
