The bore has been increased to suite the twin caliper set up.

It may be something I'll go back to but I'm aiming to get the bike as close to factory as I can can

cheers for the input guys

Ah but according to Dave Marsden it was a Kawasaki optional extra at the time albeit hideously expensive. I'd say you wouldn't be compromising originality if you found the right splitter....

And...

You'll thank me if you ever have to ride it down Hardnott Pass! :D :D

Haha

Yes, no doubt your right.

I would probably have kept the twin disc but the one fitted has been modified slightly and uses spacers for some reason, and as it wasnt fitted to the bike from new I'm removing it for now.

The spacers are usually fitted to make the left hand caliper bracket into a right hand unit as the mountings orientation is different.Right hand brackets are available from Zpower/Z1Enterprises but they are pattern.

Its been a while but theres been a lot of progress and the bike is now finished......for now

To cut a long story short I did what I could but progress was slow. I was then introduced to a guy called Paul who took the bike on and brought it up t the standard its in now

I won't go into all the finer details but some fantastic work has been carried out and many many parts have been changed for the correct items. Parts such as the headlamp, various bolts etc. Theres still a little way to go but we are getting down to the small details to get it very close to perfect.

I'll be looking out for early model forks in the new year and will have quite a few parts for sale too.

Thats it for now, its all tucked up and secure for the winter. I'll be looking for some parts and will have a few bits for sale in the next few weeks too.

Well Done ED

Looks like a right minter now mate. Will be interested to see what you are still short of - can't be much by the look of things.

Does she get to spend the winter in the conservatory??

Paint job looks fab - original or who did it??

Happy Xmas from Mark

Lovely looking bike,
with regards to the optional twin disc setup, I think the Kawasaki supplied option was at least initially a different caliper as in a H2 type or something.

If you look at your speedo tthe gap between the ND and the MPH is correct the rev counter has a smaller gap - I hope that makes sense

tacho is the later Z900 up style.
72 z1 has the straight 7 too not the rounded one.
the line between 0 and 1K rpm should be in the middle not near to the 0

deluxe bike

What a great refurbishment Ed! Is she an early 72 Zed or after the first 2200?

Cheers!
