#1 PostAuthor: dave m » Mon Apr 09, 2007 4:45 pm

Hi,

Can anybody please recommend a good make of engine oil and brake brake fluid for a 78 Z1R as I,m about to the bikes first service since I,ve owned it.

Also are the oil and air filters advertised on ebay ok to use.

regards

Dave :D

Dave M, do a 'search' mate, theres a ton of info (some quite recently) on this subject.
Most modern mineral oil seem OK in a Zed. Full synthetic may lead to a slipping clutch :?:  But not always :!:
Main thing is regular oil & filter changes (I use top quality mineral - Kendalls or Amsoil and change oil & filter max 1500 miles) and you can't go too far wrong :D
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I use Silkolene Super 4 10w 40 its a semi syn oil and works fine. No problem with the e bay filters if you are doing regular oil changes.

I use Rock Oil TRM 20/60 which is specifically formulated for roller bearing crankshaft engines.
I only use genuine Kawasaki oil filters in my 1000J type motors as they are cheap anyway.
