Not much to report I'm afraid, The bodywork is off to be painted in the very near future, I figure that if I have some shiny bits to inspire me I will work faster? They reckon they can match the stripes exactly. Fingers crossed.

As it stands the engine is still in the frame, injection still connected but bodywork and exhaust etc off.

I'm going to have a go at painting the frame and engine etc. meself. Thing is it's been a bit cold in the shed just recently... definitely not painting weather.

My main problem is space, as soon as I clear space to work it gets filled. TBH, I wasn't looking for another project but when this came up It couldn't be missed, I do have a couple of other ongoing projects (anyone that knows me would be laughing their knobs of right now) so time is an issue as well... and money. You all know how it is.

Couple of questions for yers:
The wiring looms are pretty manky (but thankfully not chopped about) I read somewhere, possibly on another forum, that they come up a treat if you put them through a medium hot cycle in the washing machine. Anyone done this? I know there is a high salt content in washing up liquid, I wonder if there is anything in washing powder that would be a worry. I don't want a nice clean loom that falls apart in six months time.

Also, I'm still looking for a correct circular headlight, is the light fitted to the Z750s from the same era the same does anyone know? It's a long time ago now but I think I gave light that came with the bike to my mate after he dropped his 750L, I seem to remember it fitted but thats not to say its correct.

Hi fellow H owner ,i too have a crud filled tatty loom ...,
i def though would totally avoid a washing machine as a quick fix,ive been informed that thinners will do the cleaning with loads of rags followed by a blast of electrical cleaner should do the trick ,but it will be a long job .
if i come across a headlight i'll give you a hollar

My loom was rancid but i was shocked how different it looked when all the tape comes off.
I stripped the tape and bound it temporarily with cable ties in the important locations and washed it with petrol.
Cut out the dead and damaged wires.
Added in an extra earth return.
Replaced damaged plugs / sockets.
Wrapped it back up.
Came out Ok but certainly better than it had been especially where someone had chopped straight through the main part of the loom.

I met someone who put his loom in an Ultrasonic cleaner.He said it even got the green corrosion off the spade connectors etc;

I've cleaned looms with brake cleaner, then re-taped them, replacing manky bullet connectors with nice shiny new ones from Vehicle wiring products. It is worth investing in a proper crimping tool if you go this route.

I kinda thought the washing machine was too good to be true. I was talking to a bloke last night who has an ultrasonic set up and he reckons that iit's the business on looms (like Keefleaf sez) so that will be the way forward I think.

Thats a mighty link for the wiring supplies G.B. I have been thinking of getting some "stock" in that department. I have a small kit for general repairs but they are the crappy lego coloured stuff you get from Motor factors. Only ever really a bodge.

Does anyone know if the 750's have the same light?

someone attacked it and fitted some really nice bullet connector's everywhere
