Pipe colour

I am sure kev and mikey are right about the futility of polishing blue pipes.
For those that want to persist in keeping their pipes blueless, you may have seen this stuff on fleabay..
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Blue-Job-Chrome-M ... 19b86f9ba3
If so, you may be interested to know that the products own data sheet describes the constituant ingredient as "Juglans Regia Shell" which translates to nothing more than Powdered Walnut Shell!
Those of you looking to save a few squid after xmas may be interested in this page which describes the properties of walnut shell and even tells you how to make a powder.

So think on as you finish cracking the last of your xmas nuts.

mikey wrote:Right thought id check valve clearences today found a 3 were loose and 1 tight but with the small handful of shims was able to sort them bar one,
now with my grasp of mathsi worked out i needed a shim size of 250
which i had, but put it in and was to tight so i guess i would need a shim of 245 or 240, and am i right in thinking the club runs a shim exchange service.
Hi Mikey, I will check my stock tomorrow, if I have a 240 and 245 I will send them to you, just post two back when you are done, let you know !!

.... but what is the point unless you plan not to run the engine?
Because as soon as you do, then same thing will happen. Only way round it is to fit twin walled exahaust pipes - not really an option.
And yes, they should be more or less the same colour, you would expect the middle two to run a bit hotter. (i.e. blue -> purple as opposed to just yellow).
