Hi all ,z1000j1 fitted with Boyer,need to do small weld arc/mig repair, is it just the case of battery disconnect ?or do you need to disconnect or isolate anything else to be safe?...Paul J..

yep, just battery and put the earth camp as close as poss to were your going to weld.

if u use a mig welder no need to disconnect anything

And if you are welding anything rear of the headstock don't attach the earth clamp to anything forward of the headstock unless you want to fuse your head race bearings.

Perfect opportunity to tell him he needs to disconnect and remove all wiring loom, engine and any plastic or rubber components and you all bloody spoil it, humph :)

Yep just the battery, technically just the - terminal but i'd disconnect and remove in case you have heat seeking terminal cables like mine

to be honest, I would remove any electronic components - this would be the voltage rectifire and regulator if not combined unit. also electroinc ignotion if you have fitted.

for the few extra minutes it takes, it will save you a lot of maoney not having to replace either.

I am pretty sure I fried an alternator on a Land Rover so now as precaustion always remove electronic parts.
