I bought me old Zed back the other day and I'm gonna fix it up. Here's a pic of me on it back in the day, (that would be about '81) and we are pictured on pit lane at the TT grandstand.

Next, how we are today:

The lad I bought it back from was proud as punch of that paintjob... And the grips set it off a treat.

Anyhow, it's not too bad, hasn't really been messed with too much, still got the efi and most of the nuts and bolts it came with. Showing 40odd thousand miles but the speedo drive packed up "a few years back". The wheels have been powder coated though it looks more like chocolate coating. The clutch was stuck when I collected it, took it through four roundabouts and a couple of stop signs still stuck. It finally freed off giving it the berries going up the Creg straight. It rides OK TBH, I'm not sure if the cam-chain is noisier than I remember... I might stick a clip up on youtube so's you chaps can have a listen. so really Its a paint plate and polish job.
The Marshall will have to go but I have a harris in stock. I also have the standard set I took off in the eighties. They have a couple of rot holes in the end of the silencers so I don't know if they would be repairable... would be like welding coke tins. It would be nice to have standard pipes on it.
So, the shopping list as it stands is rear disc, kickstart, correct headlight, correct grips (black ones would be a start) and the rear mudguard. (I have to own up to cutting it down all those years ago). Oh and some black paint!
Don't expect lightening progress, I have me hands full and the last thing I needed was another project but some things you can't walk past. My missus said "get it bought you soft sod, or you'll spend the rest of your life wishing you had". Top girl.
Take care chaps,
Chas.
