baz, the 3l one is a december 73 and the 5g is a july 75. the letter denotes the month, with A being january and L being december. hope this helps.

Mick,
Whilst I agree about year, the letter part is still not clear regards month. I’ve seen a few letters past the 12th letter, eg: N, S, V and I’m sure Rick Brett knows of more.
What month are these letters?
However, I agree that the lower the letter the earlier the month.

You might be right Mick. I don't know for sure. Thinking about it, the N, V letters etc I've seen have been on the brae disc codes, but can't remember if they apply on wheels.

id put a wanted add on this site Baz, i recon you'd get a 73 rim. there are a few other bikes that used the tachy rim too, i think cb750 and s;z;k' gt750.

I've got a feeling the suzuki GT750 were a 36 spoked rim not 40 like Z1, something in the back of my mind says they are different. Basically check & double check the No holes + 2 for the rim blockers if the rear.

Yeah, Mike's right - 36 hole on GT750 but 40 on the CB750. David Silver spares used to sell them really cheap years ago but no longer has the Takasago.
