The fairing was next, I needed to do a small repair, which you can still see it's just below the graphic on the o/s, but it doesn't show in the pic, so that small part will probably get re-done.

The mirrors still need a bit of tlc & the o/s indicator will be replaced.
That's all I had managed to get done before Ralphy's last meet of the year, I had the original tank & sidepanels fitted & thought it would be great to blast it down to Shepton Mallet on the Sunday. So on the Saturday I wheeled it down the drive, got all me clobber on, started & warmed the bike, ready for it's maiden run. Pushed the gear lever down, let the clutch out, and........................................................................... Nothing.
It seemed the clutch wouldn't engage.
I was already too hot, so pushed it back on to the drive & wheeled out what is fast becoming my faithful old steed.... My money Muncher. We had an excellent blast & gave me the time to contemplate what was wrong with the Geepster.

Yes, it looks superb.
Don't see many Unitrack 1100's.
Steve, armorall is good stuff for black plastic;

Cheers for that Phil, I have bought some Flexible vinyl paint from good old Halfords. the can reads; 'The colour penetrates the surface and gives a permanent colour finish by changing the pigmentation'.
I have bought this primarily to do the 'inner' fairing, if it's any good I'll try it on the mirrors......... if it's not, I'm off to Armorall!!

Right then, back to my maiden flight. It turned out the clutch problem was nothing more than a badly adjusted adjuster in the transmission cover. After sorting that I discovered my next problem. It seemed I couldn't get 1st gear, only 2nd. Anyhow, I thought I'd set off around the block & see if that helped. I found to my surprise that I had a 'race' gearbox.... 1 up & 4 down. Yup you've probably guessed it by now, I had fitted the linkage arse about face. :oops: :oops: :oops:
Sorted my linkage out & set off again, done less than half a mile when I pulled in the clutch and 'pop'. Firstly I thought the cable had snapped or the nipple come of, but no, it was all intact. The clutch was permanently dis-engaged, so it meant ............. Pushing :(
Turned out the mechanism in the transmission cover had twisted out too far & popped out past the lug which is supposed to stop it twisting, after a rummage through my small selection of spares a replacement was fitted & it all seem's fine now.

I seem to be getting better with the clearcoat.
I have saved the tank till last, but that's a whole other story, I will tell the tale soon!
