Forks for my Zed

Hi folks, i have a Zed a4 frame and am looking to put some shnazzy fork onit, ive heard all sorts of roomers that new kawak forks will fit the old frame, ie zx12r zx9r usds and the like, i got a pair of zxr750 forks which i was told would fit but they dont, any advice???? are their any that will just slot it? i know there is issues with fork length, esp with usds, so zxr400s etc are out the window....help much appriciated,

zx9r 'b' model usd's are the ones to go for regarding length as they have about 50mm or so protuding above the top yoke for the clip on bars to clamp to. When you fit risers to the top yoke for normal bars the forks are then dropped that 50mm or so and you end up with a front end that is very close in height to the original zeds. I have just fitted a set of these to my supercharged zed project and i did it in just one day but then i do have my own lathe etc . That said it was not a hard conversion to do just requiring the original zed stem and some machining of the top yoke.

Most of the USDs are shorter than the Zed forks - you can make anything fit it depends how deep your pocket is. ZRX front end would be a good way to go with onventional forks, and if they need lengthening it's easier to do that to RWUs. You could also get theZXR forks lengthened with extension to the top as you already have them.

One of the longest USD forks are off the 1990 - 92 GSXR1100 (L & M). They are eagerly hunted down for many Streetfighter projects, including my old Gixxer! They are ofter found on V-Max conversions to name but one.
Otherwise its a set of billet, stepped yokes for you my old mate. My Z1000 has a set and they cost the thick end of ?500

My 750 turbo has Gsxr1100m front and rear end fitted. As Mr Pigford says they are a good length and haven't really changed the geometry too much. Simple swap, out with the suzi stem and pressed in the turbo stem and Bobs your aunties fancy man. I could do with another 1100m bottom yoke though if anyone has one.

nice one, ill have a hunt around, ....might have trouble with getting an original stem. my z1 engine was in a z650 custom frame. hence the need to get it into a z1 frame asap. but i dont think the stem from my 650 will be the same but ill check. thanks again
