Just have your runs, then wheel it over & park it up  Not that your old crate has much chance of winning anything

I`m entering it in the concourse class, :sf do you think that would be ok? I`m a little worried though, as i think the hand grips may not be original.

Weather was OK Saturday - Trailered the Zed 200 miles--- arrived at 9:30.

Signed in - got put in Straightliner class (only run 11.5's so not really fussed where I go).

Bike off trailler, scrutineered.... No probs

Get in queue..... a Good hour + wait to run. Coz they was running late, the ACU points mob kept "queue jumping"..... No staff organising the place - a free for all, so everyone started moving up

One of the first pre-runs blew a motor so oil all over lefthand lane - took yonks to clear up (not knocking that, coz safety first!).

Anyhow - did me first run (new tyres Avon Vipers - 700 miles, running 20 psi) and didn't bother with a burnout to see what track was like - coz it was real sticky last event.

Anyhow, the old Zed just spun up so did a sh*te 12.09 Then lunch break ...... Back in queue bit after 2pm... another hour plus wait - bit more out - 15 psi, and a burnout this time...

Running againt AndyZ1R... he got the jump on me (hes ususally half asleep when the lights go  ) I was so surprised I ended up spinning again, then coz I was behind (as expected) I was just watching him and not taking much notice of my run - bouncing of limiter for a few seconds in 2nd & third so did an even slower run 12.2

Gave up after that and went and watch the action with me lad...No Muscle Bike Show either.........

Good to see the lads.. (Al, Andy, Bunny, Bauldy, Brian, Romeo, Paul, TLC...etc, etc...) :P
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Agree Piggy, was a good turnout despite the weather and the peculiar organisational anomalies.

Couldnt get a pass for filming from the main gate despite sending them an e-mail about my intentions two weeks ago so gave up. Just as well cos so did my camera!!!

Managed a couple of dodgy clips but couldnt really be bothered to fight the technology so consigned myself to the back of the stands for a little sulk.

Suzuki seem to have hi-jacked the event and filled most of the field in the straight liners' classes too. Bit one sided i thought.

Piggy can you give any news of the guy who effectively stopped the racing on Saturday?
I know the fella from scotland broke his collar bone but the other one was last seen un-conscious i think, being taken away in the ambulance.
Hope he's OK. Didnt look too good though.

This is smokey Ray Debben. No apologies for the quality and i don't understand the coding~re-encoding issue that i have with photobucket either. So like last time its speeded up but not by design.

This was the guy we parked next to in the pits. 1327cc J model. (nearside lane doing low nines with gas)
Sorry i didn't catch you're name.

Shirley Temple in the nearside lane

Flabbio-Brie on-Toasty in the nearside lane doing the ballerina impersonation and Piggy 'i feel the need to do a visual inspection of my valves' Ponsford in the far lane

Why does nobody 'real' want to race against me?

Piggy you're lad should have some good clips.

Went on Sunday and was very disappointed with regards to the number of Z's. Steve Debben on his immaculately turned out Z and a GSXR powered ELR!!!! Didn't even see any around the pits/car park.
Steve only managed two runs that I saw.

Weather was not too bad as long as you could shelter from the biting wind!!

I must admit that I haven't been to drag strip for more than twenty years and had forgotten how bloody exciting the racing is. Might have to have a go myself next year!

Good shots Al...

My lad could work the camera out OK, but at 20 yrs he lacks the skill to concerntrate for more than 5 secs.... :??

Shirley Temple (aka: Romeo Debben  ) bike was sounding really sweet. As for the Golden Locks :| But maybe I'm just jealous :(

The Blue "J" was parked by me last year... He ran a best of 9.1
On that run filmed, his NOX was low and ran out :!:

The bloke who got knocked out was carted off in the ambulance - followed by a rather tearful wife  Don't know the outcome :?:

I sat and watch a few after my last run and got back to me bike to find I lost me wallet  Luckily someone handed it into the office :P But in the frantic - heartstopping 15 mins of searching for it, I managed to loose me bike keys :dead

Anyhow - at least we managed to eat & have a few beers that evening
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Despite only doing 3 x runs, the various accidents (never known so many in one day) it was a pretty good day. Mainly due to having our little Zed corner amongst all the Suzuki`s, and getting lot`s of comments from passers by who seemed to enjoy seeing a few Zeds there too. Plus meeting up with some old and new faces, and getting to actually beat Piggy off the line without spilling my cup of tea! :D :sf
There was also a cake and biscuit fest :) (pictures possibly to follow), but not much sign of the pole dancers :( . Maybe they were all with Steve getting hair styling tips?
Oh and great pics Alan, and cheers for the vids Zorded despite your dodgy camera and being banned from the start line, they are obviously getting to know you at Santa Pod. Here`s to next year. :up

Hi Andy,Mark,Al(Zorded) etc.Good to see you all,and thanks for the comments about the pics.I will post the ones i took as soon as i get a chance-will hopefully get them on here rather than Photobucket.Glad your video clips came out Zorded(Al) as i know you had problems with your camera. The start line crew turfed me and my son away as well, just as Steve Woolatt was about to do his first top fuel run. They are definitely getting stricter!Take care.

Yes Alan it was good to meet some people i have never met before also. Hope the lad enjoyed it too.
Is it just me or can i not get a look at the album from the shortcut you posted?
When i click on the link i get the log in screen with your' password, but hit enter or 'see their album' and it says wrong username or password???

Why has Fatty Z1R said 'great pics' when he cant even find reverse gear in his own car? Is it because i have a photobucket account and it doesnt recognise my IP address on youre login'?

I am a bit pissed off with SP because they allowed the Straightliners' photographers access to the emergency road all day but not the paying public. After all is said and done, its all publicity for them and the Straightliners photo boys had no idea of the health and safety restrictions which others have to observe. ie. they got a telling off for going way past the 'dead line'. Not something you would expect from the usual pro photographers at the site. Or people like me who were briefed by them.

Also not very happy about having to wait as did some riders whilst the meatheads circled and jumped the queues. Everyone paid and should be entitled to the same number of runs in my opinion. The same people then went on the rampage in the car park and pits area when the racing had to be stopped because someone was seriously injured. This with numerous kids in the pits and car park area.

Also very confused about the lack of a Streetfighters tent or stand. The enclosure used last year for the MBS was available but not prepped for their use. Our 'party' could have taken 1 2 3 4 5 cos i didnt see any other bikes queuing for judges attention. Though there were bikes there that could have entered into it! Just glad i didnt drive my show winner all the way there.

I said earlier in this thread that the event had effectively been hi-jacked by Suzuki,........... i guess i should have known what to expect.

Wont bother next time.

AL

P.S. The toilets stink as well.

I'm wondering you you are referring to with the phrase "Straightliners photographers"? There are a few of the Straightliners crew who take pics at events, and they know exactly what the health and safety risks are! That's the reason why the paying public aren't allowed access to the access lane... Incidentally, this is perhaps the one event of the year at Santa Pod (with the exception of test days and RWYB) that it is possible for non-professional photographers to sign on and get access to the start line for pics...

The Streetfighters merchandies stand is run by a separate concern - G&J Merchandise - and while they were asked to attend, they didn't as they "had furniture to assemble"...
The MBS was moved from last year to be in a higher profile position behind the grandstand, as many people missed it last year. No Zeds entered though...

Glad to see you enjoyed it Al, wasn`t the racing even worth watching? I obviously didn`t see alot of it as i was queuing up for 5 hours to do 3 runs! Don`t think i`ll be back next year either, give me Avon Park with a load of old triples blowing up any day.
As for Alan`s pics, i just tried it again and they work fine, for some reason i didn`t even need to enter the password this time. :?? It`s probably your crappy old PC, you need to upgarde mate to a ZX81, they even have rubber buttons on the keyboard. Mine works a treat.
