Hello Neil, its Steve not Ray, I started this some time ago. I am building this to use on the track instead of my Hornet 900. Yours will be finished way before mine, and my bike will fall a long way short of the spec of your bike, still think your engine looks better in silver rather than black, speak soon, best regards, Steve

Whats the spec gonna be (engine wise) :?:

More pics soon, will be fitting early cases with GPz1100 crank and 1170 Wiseco kit, Unitrak cylinder head converted to 8 plug, .395" lift camshafts and some 33 roundslide Mikunis (Flatslides are not allowed). Back wheel is 3.5" wide (maximum width under classic racing rules) 38mm Marazzoci front forks from a Harris Magnum have been fitted which is also max diametre allowed. I have removed all surplus lugs (side stand, centre stand, side panel lugs, rear footrest hangers, indicator mounts, seat lock and hinges. need to get the weight down wherever i can. Hope to test it at Cadwell next year.

Even though Steve has to keep the weight down, I bet you it'll still have 2 discs fitted Piggy :lol: :lol:

My made had an ex-P&M Harris F1 fitted with a Jim Wells GS XR69 rep engine and mechanical anti-dive.... now that not only looked the biz, but really worked well.

I have just finished the rear engine mount which braces the frame above the swing arm pivot, picking up directly on the crankcases means the rear engine mounting bolt can no longer bend under load, the crankcases help strengthen the frame and there is more room for the drive chain because the rear trianglurar engine plates are gone

Progress has been slow due to more important jobs, but here are some more pics. The lower crankcases have now been machined to take the GPz1100 cylinder block, a rear tensioner blade block has also been machined to hold the stock 1100 rear camchain blade, this will enable the complete top end from the GPz1100 to be fitted to the earlier Z900 z1000 crankcases. We can also fit the 1100 crank, hyvo camchain, starter clutch. The 1100 crankshaft/rotor/starterclutch setup is much stronger than the earlier Z900 type.

Thanks Jack, Yes 18 x 3.5 is maximum for CRMC regs, lots of regulations to adhere to but basically it has to use period parts, no flatslide carbs, floating discs, modern calipers or upside forks, should keep it interesting :shock:
Sorry I missed you Pigford, be great to see you at the new pub, it has a big car park and a reasonable size beer garden and is in a beautifull part of the forest, could be a great venue for a future Z1 owners club rally :pist
