Hi Dteven that looks quite pink in the photo's, is it in real life?

The tailpiece is well faded due to a life in Florida but the areas that are protected by the seat are still true colour. I agree with Redbeard on the use of pictures etc. I,m firmly of the opinion that if you want a true match then you need to have something there to match to, I actually bought it purely to use as a colour match when I had my Z1000. Photos 4, 5 and 6 are a good likeness around the mounting point and the others where to show the pinstripes and the position and size of the overlap.

Durn, I wish I had known - I am having my own A1 painted Red in a couple of weeks when I get back to Blighty and have a virtually NOS tank and tail to use as reference - I bought the tank as NOS off Ebay . . . There is an amusing tale to report when I get back and take photos The Red could be a difficult colour to match, the red only shows up to be a pearl under very bright light, it must be one of the dullest pearls that Kawasaki ever used.

Well tailiftchris & bunny came over this afternoon, Chris on his Z1000-A1 in the Red and now I've seen it in the flesh kinda gone-off that colour, in fact def going to do it in the DIAMOND SKY BLUE This is definetley the correct colour name Cause it's more of a sea Greean/Blue scheme not sky blue, got that info from Marsden's website.

I have been amassing another paintset. Just need a tank now in straight and rustfree condition. I want to keep the original set even though it`s not perfect.

I spoke with Hutch and will give it to him to do.

I had a bad experience with Dream Machine some years ago so happy to try another supplier.

The Diamond Sky Blue is a really nice colour but has never seemed as popular as the Diamond Wine Red for some reason, what I would say is be careful of what you use as a match because they do seem to vary a bit, after a discussion on this colour in a previous thread, I have been trying to find a bloke from Winchester I met a few years ago with a view to taking some pictures of his totally unrestored bike, he has owned his Z1000A1 from new and his bike is really quite predominantly blue.
Also from what I've seen in recent years I reckon Dream Machine are pretty hit or miss, and trade on a reputation formed many years ago.

PS. There are a couple of members on here that have original tanks who may chip in with a picture or two.
