Generator Cover Now the Rotor

#1 PostAuthor: martinz1b » Sun Aug 30, 2009 12:19 pm

Hi, I pulled the cover off the rotor and noticed that at some time in its life the rotor has come loose. I bought this engine for spares but as it was a complete engine I thought I would test it first.

Now is it possible to use something like lapping paste to try and re-profile the end of the crank and rotor, it is not badly scored but as there is no key I want as close fit as possible, has anybody done this before?

Thanks for any help.
Mart

Hi Mart , It would probably work if you remove any raised part of scoring first , then used lapping paste and the rotor , pretty much like lapping a valve in , just don't over do it and clean out all the paste prior to starting the motor , good luck.
