Bleeding Brakes

The best way to bleed brake or clutch lines when completely drained of fluid is a progressive approach through the system. Make sure the reservoir is topped up and the pump the pedal about 5 times. Get someone to hold the pedal down whilst you loosen the union on the brake pipe closest to the reservoir/master cylinder. Make sure you have a rag around it to catch any fluid. Tighten before the pedal is released. Repeat this and then move to the other end of the pipe and do it again. Continually ensure the reservoir is topped up.
By doing this you will clear air right the way through and may not even need to touch the bleed nipple which can from experience seize in the calliper.
Works for me every time and it will take 5 minutes to have a rock hard pedal. Works for brakes and hydraulic clutches. No need to muck about with little gadgets.
