Hard to handle? you decide....

Backtrackin' slightly (pre meltdown) some might remember the front mudgaurd im using - Suzuki RF900, bought from a breakers for a fist full of Yen ( well ...£15 actually) Reason being couldnt find a decent Yam FZR one an this wasnt far off the right dimensions.
Had it sprayed locally for a trade of a few beers (cheers Andy) in 2 pack and then made a fork brace to mount it - material blagged from M&A sheet metal (cheers Smett)
Anyhow that was all sooo last year an finally got round to doin' summat with all these bits an bobs.

Had some doubts about the headlight brackets when first put them on,looked miles too far out, but after putting the clock bracket on......
well.... i'll have to see how it looks when the clocks are in.

Still have to cut the neoprene foam for the clocks and sort the wires out (kin wires :swe :? :grr :confu - me - eleck trickery - :down )

I can now sort out the rear hanger bracket (another Yam item) i'll need to cut it about a bit and have it rewelded and also sort the rear footpegs.

Slowly coming together tho'

Having sat on it with the rearsets where they are, im happy to measure up for the rear brake line ..... one day (lazy bastard yeh see)

Now that the front ends on, ive realised when the clocks were on they 'sat' too flat and needed kicking up more. After giving it some thought (a minute with a tab an scratch of the nads) i recond on cutting some inch bar and with a bit of drilling, spot facing an a tickle with a file summat could be done......

several hours & loads of brews later and i had summat that looked 'half right'

First idea was to make some blocks and just sit them on the yolk bracket, but..... theres always a but isnt there.... after placing the rev counter on there found that the cable was a little tight, ah well.

So this is how it ended up -

Some added rubber bushes then raised the clocks slightly (the 3" risers werent helping here :roll: ) admittedly could of done with more of a kick angle but.... well yer makes yer choice an stick with it.

A while back id bought a chain riveter (Machine Mart made by Laser) about time i used it.

So with the chain on (im just gonna quote wots on the box here) a DID 50VM X Ring i could check frame / tyre clearances.


Front sprocket 18T 5/8 offset

Rear wheel is GSXR1100M

The rear sprocket carrier was machined down 7.5 mm to bring it in line.

Its close between frame and tyre but it has 'even' clearance on both and the chain run is straight.

Right thats me for now, probably look at the exhaust hanger next (need to cut it about and have it rewelded) amongst other odds n sods .......think im just putting off the wiring for now ....... but it'll have to be done.

I'll give it some thought........

The engine cases / covers were glass bead blasted then painted in high temp silver - dont know how they'll stand up to road use. Already got some doubts having recently put the alternator in with grubby hands :| time will tell.

The forks measured 780mm from top to spindle. Yamaha FZR1000 Genesis 1988 (41mm) Think later Exup are 43mm.

Complete front end - yolks, forks, wheel & discs are Genesis. Mudgaurd is Suzuki RF900.

With paint it shouldn't be much of a problem with dirt on the covers.

I got a 17/180/55 Suzook rear wheel - and had 5mm taken off the carrier on the Mk.II :wink:

....looks well sick :twisted:
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
