Yeah, those were my thoughts, a quick inspection I couldn't see any defect, spring etc internally looked fine, it will certainly get a thorough inspection if re-used.

Not yet, will probably be a few weeks time as it's a 3 hour drive each way to drop them off, probably gonna go black on most of them as that's what they should be, I've been told that as the chemical black fades it can give an appearance of very dark green whereas the drab green is very green.

That's good information to know, looking forward to you showing us your nuts

Well, with the engine stripped it's been a week or so spent cleaning.

The barrels were degreased and I gently aqua blasted them, this morning I took them and the head to the local machine shop, unfortunately it's a one man band operation and he is into his classic bikes, so he's closed and at the IOM until next week .. :x

The crankcase has took some cleaning, every nook and every crevice, then it's been masked, acid etched and painted satin black, photos make it look more glossy than it is.

I've also made a start on other parts, blasting, painting or powder coating

Still not got to the platers :x

Should add the breather on top of the crankcase is getting done separate hence still showing primer.

Its getting there, keep posting the pictures.

So I've had all my engine cases gently blasted followed by Aqua blasting, then acid etch primed and baked satin black paint.

Really pleased with the finish, very factory, not as thick or glossy as powder coating can be.

Now the bolts, I had stock of satin finish stainless steel but also bought some black anodised stainless ones.......now I don't know which I prefer :(

Yeah, I'm deffo going black on all the fasteners.

There's a guy on EBay sells them in packs of 10 with black washers, use the options to select length and pack size.

Not sure they are annodised tbh, may just be chemically blackened but the ones I received today are very nice, just ordered a big batch in various lengths.

Cheers, Paul

They came with chemically blackened cap heads originally.

Had my barrels down to the machine shop yesterday , got them measured up, still on factory size with zero wear, they will get glaze busted and new std size rings fitted.

Well my new lift arrived today, it had great reviews so I got one off Amazon, only £82 delivered

And this afternoon I picked my barrels up, looking very good after glaze busting, £20 well spent, now to clean them a bit more before painting them.
