Yep, I'm tempted into a CNC project for the same reason- I even downloaded and plan for a home build project.
I dreamt about making a wall mounted machine to save space.
But in the end I think it would be better to start with a manual machine that is designed for the loads. For example, is made of cast iron and has large contact areas on its bearings. My wall mounted idea started to look a bit dumb.
Such a project would need to have ball screw conversions so there is no backlash and then the servos fitted.
After that its a purely tech project and there are lots of servo/driver/interface kits to get you going.
Would make a great project. I don't have enough space.
You could buy something off the shelf like this?
http://shopmasterusa.com/general-features/
$5700 plus shipping and VAT.
Is that too much to dream about?
My head goes round in circles a bit about this.

So have front spacers on the way but there's more mount issues on the rear top and lower mounts too.
Theres also a pacer needed there. As you can see the gap here in green - about 20mm.
Another major issue that concerns me is the right side upper mount. The triangle that also has the bracket for the rear brake switch fouls the right side engine cover as there appears to be some big useless tab sticking out of it?
As you can see, on the 650 its not present.
But there is this on the right side cover which I presume is the clutch cable actuator? I don't need that triangular bracket as I'm running a rearset mounted switch / reservoir but is that bracket needed to actuate this? Do I get a new cover or machine that tab off?
The rear lower mount rod is also not long enough by 10mm.
I didn't think there would be this much difference.

Ratch, The GPZ cases are slimmer at the rear. No problem, just make a couple of spacers.
The 650 cases are same width top and bottom at the rear, IIRC its 175mm.
The GPZ A1 cases I have are 158mm bottom and 165mm top.
You need the lug on the clutch cover there is a threaded hole in the back for a bracket that holds the end of the clutch cable.
You will need to either remove the brake switch bracket from the mount or get a new triangular engine mount plate made.
Not sure why the lower rod is not long enough though if the cases are narrower, a 650 one should be long enough, Are you using 750 ones?

Its worth noting- if you have a need for some fancy engine bolts- go surfing the parts fische for other bikes-- like at cmsnl.com
Often they will list the dimensions for the long engine bolts on the part description- its easy to order one for another bike once you know the dims you need.

All sorted. Cheers dudes.
Next question!
I'm thinking the Tockico radial calipers that came with the forks are not badical enough. I'm into a refurbed set of R1 calipers 05 era or a new set of Brembo M4s.
Assuming I order the Brembos to fit an 05 ZX6R they should bolt right on.
Do the R1 calipers fit? They'll both be 108mm bolt spacing but the offset to the disc is what concerns me.

Calipers from most of the modern jap bikes will interchange as the offset is in the disc, not the caliper. I've 2011 Fireblade Monoblocks on my ZX10 forks with some spacers & im using 1999ish ZX6 300mm front discs.
What diameter of discs are you using again?
