Spent this afternoon making an alloy rear light bracket for the Er5 light I picked up cheap. I think a few Kawasaki special builders have used the same light, happy with how it looks.

and (Steve in Ireland I know you wanted to check the bar set up out) now fitted 2 inch rise Renthals as the flatties made the master cylinder too close to the adjusters on top of the forks

Fitted the 30 mile chain today, the links are all nice with no looseness except the link that the p/o had used to join the chain was tight and there was something wrong with it, so I took it off as the chain needed to be shorter on mine. Spins real easy now. I wonder if that is why he sold it, its definately done very little work judging by its condition?

Got some headlamp brackets, a clean looking rust free gas tank (the one I have is in poor condition and was really only good enough to use in setting things up) and seat cowl mounts on their way, hopefully this week and then I can get the headlamp mounted.

Hi Mark, funnily enough I have actually been thinking that for the first time. I have done a few rebuilds, but never a heavily modified project and you hear all the stories about people selling half done ones or never finishing them. The list is definately getting shorter as the weeks go by.
It only started as an engine project that I was going to put in my standardish 650 for a bit of fun, could of done that by now

Jim, It's very easy to 'overtighten' a chain joining link. I've done it  and seen it on other bikes too.

This morning saw the headlamp brackets turn up, but the back clasp touches the tank unless I move the top clamps up and the lower ones down. This will require me to ditch the arms that came with the set and make my own, which then means i can make them so they will accept mini indicators if I ever want to fit them.

I got a length of M10 s/s studding, a bit of 10mm alloy tube and a couple of M10 ball joint thingies - and voila

Not so you'd ever notice  Movement is minimal, and the rear brake is never that powerful.

Scored a mudguard at last. Came off a Zephyr 750 and fits exactly between the ZX9R forks. Only had to drill out the inner steel brace and drill 4 new holes and trim some surplus off. Taped some fuel hose around inside of guard to hold it evenly off the tyre while I marked up where to drill.

Finished rebuilding the rear caliper, new stainless pistons and seals, also nearly finished headlamp brackets, just need to remove more from the middle of them, so they don't look heavy duty.

Had a bit of manflu, so not done much this week. Hit the Genepi liquer last night to kill the last remnants off and felt well enough to carry on with the headlamp brackets today.

I now have some 4 pot nissin calipers on the way to me to enable finishing off front brakes
