After staring at the back end (an unusual hobby that has landed me in trouble more than once)

Image

Rear light was next for alterations (the numberplate bracket just didnt do it for me before, oh, and im thinking of having the plate on the stainless gaurd - between the upward frame rails, theres a row of 4mm bolts but coz of legalities its a maybe  )

Image

Boxed in using alloy plate folded, then some 20mm square blocks riveted in with tapped 6mm holes in. Covered it in sticky back plastic (3M carbon look)
Countersunk washers are from a Karting shop - cheapest i could find

If i was a bit more shall we say 'conversant' with this keyboard malarky and photobucket oh an Youtoob i probably could have posted this in one shot but ... see theres that 'but' again .... well i aint ha ha

Anyhow, by now i was ready to put a battery on - a new un, one of them sealed batterys. Connected it up and .....

Nothing, check thro' and seems at the centre loom id connected blue to blue (Alt) Green to green (Rect/Reg combo) oh and white to white - new repo loom has a white plug that when looking around this forum should fit onto the Brown plug - nob!! So changed itround and -

Image

Spun it over several times with the plugs out to circulate the oil, plugs were sparking by the way. Put plugs in, added fresh fuel to the remote tank -

Image

and ..... Nothing!!

Not a pop, fart or hiss ... ah well.

Plugs out - dry as a nuns, so its back to thinkin'. Not a strong point of mine, but then wot is ha ha

One other thing - tried the rear brake light, no prob, switched the light on (fronts not wired up yet) and 'POP' fuse blown (single 20amp)

Image

Do LED tail lights need a resistor? Its obviously shorting out somewhere, doubt its the loom (new) swiches are repo new as well but earth lead is prob of 75 vintage.

Any help/ pointers always appreciated for when i get my lazy arse in there.

I'll leave ya with this -

Untill the next time, go easy

Great to see ya back Sanderz.

Led tail will not read a resistor, they are only used for indicators to 'fool' the relay into flashing at the right speed.

Seem's you've found yourself a garage too.

Hello dela 1340, the seat was originally from a Z1000A1 that the likes of M&P used to sell (its probably about 30years old) an ELR style.

Image

The hinges are the same but i had to make a bracket for the lock area as its a Z1B and i dont have the 'seat stop' (the rod to stop the seat opening further) but doubt it would fit as the base hasn't any fixings there and the frame has 'alterations'.

The base on this one is 'good' but the cover has a small nick where the seat lock is - in short it'll do as is for me

If you need a seat recovering, a post in 'Bike Help' might show someone in your area or recomendations - im sure theres 1 in Preston and 1 in Northamton that forum members have used with excellant results :up

Hope this is of some use :)

As usual very little progress on this - long term project could be replaced by lifetime project  Seem to be more 'out 'n about than doing something in the shed but anyhow.....

A little background if yer want it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO-eTn8sSAk

Some months back i'd measured up for the rear brake, but being somewot of a lazy fekker, only recently put it together. Not normally a problem but this had me on the verge of slinging it over the back fence more than once

Rear caliper is early GSXR so its over 20years old but after a good clean (pistons out) and connecting it to an 'old' brake line and front master cylnder on some handlebars in the vice all moved freely.
So with new fasteners and bleed nipples connected the 'new' line, fresh fluid in, pumped it through - no pressure what so ever, repeat above and ....
Still no pressure...

Image

So as the song says "we was getting nowhere, so we had a cup of tea"

Suspect now was rear master cylnder (Brembo of a XJR13) took that apart, good clean out and .....nothing, same as, no pressure!

Long story short, after a lot of "fannying arond" it works a treat - dont know if it was 'airlocked' or maybe a spec of dirt in the transfer ports of the cylnder.... not sure??

Bled the system on the bench with the caliper higher than the lever- along these lines
Image

Only other snag was after all the ON/OFF strpping it down, one of the wires on the pressure switch had frayed. So replaced that with a bajo bolt and had a root around the shed to knock summat up.

Found these -
Image

Some folded ally sheet, heat sink, alloy bush and if your familiar with tattoo machines thats a needle (less tip) which is used then discarded usually.
So put together with an old switch i had this, it works so it'll do.

Image

And on the bike with a few 'P' clips

Image

Image

Image

While out'n about had these made up - useless really as its only a 6mm threaded rod through the spindle but hey ho, nothing ventured nothing gained. Didnt cost out, only time so i'll see how it all looks another day.

Image

Image

Oh and a little bracket for the tacho cable on the bottom yolk -

Image

Last thing is a little purchase, been thinking about this for a while - well since i thought about taking the sump off, just for piece of mind since it was put together in the kitchen and the cutlery draw is missing a few teaspoons these days so.....

Image

The low profile cover will give the exhaust collector more clearance and the oil pan gate will keep the oil where its needed.

......to be continued .....yawn, anyone still awake?

See ya

This installment was brought to you with the aid of Yorkshire tea
