z1a carbs, poss wrong ones.

#1 PostAuthor: floydsz1 » Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:55 pm

Can anyone let me know if all the carbs on the z1a were the same as the z1, ie big nut on the bottom of the float bowl. Mine is a late z1a but it has the screw type drain plug on the side off the float bowls,
cheers,
peter

Thanks for that compo,
in my z1a handbook it clearly shows the early type (nut) drain plug, but pressume they changed the type of drain plug on later z1a's. :??

Z1A carbs were the same as z1 but changed part way through production. So yes some had the bolts in the float bowl others appear like z1B style, however, if you take a look at where the main jet screws into the body you'll notice two holes for the starter jet, as per z1 only one of which is tapped, this was removed on the Z1B. I could write a book..

Sorry, I've just returned a set of restored carbs off of a later z1A otherwise I'd post some images. I'm about to have 3 sets of Z1 carbs delivered for resto and I'll post some images over the weekend.
