Cracked Clutch Spring Plate

Popped the clutch cover today and spotted the outside centre has a webbing of fine cracks. They were not visible from the inside / push rod side, so not yet right through.

Has anyone else encountered this?
The only replacements I have found so far have been complete Z1000 J clutches for around $600 to 800AUD.
Has anyone tried welding one up?

Seen a few with what appear to be surface cracks like that (most likely casting fissures that have been there from new ) but never seen one fail and the pressure from the clutch mushroom is on a wider radius where the plate is much thicker too.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for that. I'm going to be putting an APE heavy duty clutch kit in and was a little worried the stronger springs might cause a failure.

You could always JB Weld a disc in there. That would stop them spreading any further if your worried.

I might JB a stainless washer in for peace of mind I think. Tks

push rod length too long or clutch not adjusted correctly

Gluing a washer to it won't do a thing except wreck the motor when it drops off.
I wouldn't use any chemical metal anywhere near the inside of the motor.
It's a BODGE and would be as effective as putting a plaster over a bullet wound.

That pressure plate won't fail.
We bore out that entire centre section when doing a rack and pinion clutch release conversion with no issues or loss of rigidity.
