Steve R, thanks for the thread and the Carbtune web site. Inspired by the comments, I just ordered a Carbtune (4 tube) and a Colortune (single plug 14mm) from Mogan's. Let me know how you get on with yours. Postage was great to Australia (special rate for the promotion).

Hi Garn,
I did mine the other day, the gauges are very good, mine were well out and getting them something like right has transformed the idle and quietened it right down at idle.
Point to watch, every time I adjusted and got them nearer to being correct the idle speed would rise and I had to keep backing it off on the idle adjuster that hits the linkage, what took me a while to suss was that I had to back it off so far that it was no longer touching and the carbs were being held open on the throttle cable.
I did not buy a remote fuel tank, just kept topping the float chambers up from the tank, putting on and taking it off again. This was a mistake and I have now ordered this:-

but see also on here, the home made one:-

I also did not order the carb adjuster tool choosing instead to use a ring spanner and screw driver, again this was a mistake and I am ordering the proper tool before I have another go.
Will be interested to see what you make of the colour tune, I had one years ago when I used to mess with webbers on Lotus elans, lent it to someone that did not bother to return it, I think it was a pretty good bit of kit though, if you rate it I will get myself another one. My Z is nearly run in now and I want to get it as correct as possible before I get it set up on the Dyno.

I ordered the Carbtune Pro last week and hopefully it will be here today or tomorrow. It was highly recommended by folks on the ZX9 forum(also carbed) so for the price of a visit to a shop to have both the Z and ZX sorted, I'll now be able to do 'em myself. Added bonus is that the throttle bodies can be synced on fuelies. Morgan was out of the special carb adjuster for the Z when I ordered the Carbtune though
