Cam End plugs - Cylinder Head rebuild

I have bought some new cam end plugs to fit but am concerned that they will be prone to oil leakage. I there any cunning scheme to ensure these things don't weep between the plugs and the cut outs in the head?

I put a light smear of
silicone gel instant gasket
over them but use clear looks neater.

I am the same as you Mikey, a small dab wipe off excess and bob's your uncle.

Yeah never had a problem neither!

Wipe the mating surfaces off with acetone (nail polish remover), slight smear of silicone RTV, put together, wait until dry before tightening cam cover down so they don't push out.
Alternatively buy some APE alloy ones and don't worry about them again.

Ape end caps are good... only in blue tho'.. unless you polish them! They also need silicon or similar to seal. I always use em. I had to file them out a bit to fit me Z1A as they to tight to fit! Look much better than rubber things too!

Hi, on an old and hard set of rubber plugs I had to use silicone gasket just to keep them in place, than got a new set and these were tight fit , no silicone and no leaks either, finally I got APE alloy ones, all four are the same size but two fitted to one side had to be filed quite a lot as were too high,got mine polished too, good thing is that job has to be done once than silicone them in and should stay forever, agree with Pigford they do look quality
