Fork Oil to modified Z1000A1 with air assist mech

#1 PostAuthor: evans » Thu Sep 04, 2014 4:14 pm

All
I am now putting in the oil after fitting new fork oil seals, which has been a real problem as the bike is none standard and it has those strange caps with 1/2 inch square spigot recesses under the top caps. These could not be removed as too rusty, so having to put new oil in from the bottom, then replace allen bolts then refit to bike. It has larger diameter upper forks that standard with a gas assisted mechanism for pumping up. So does anyone know what these forks might from, as I am guessing the amount of fork oil will be different too to the 170cc specified.

Thanks

Chris

"Gas assisted" ????
Chris, do they have the air valve + balance pipe ? Is it about 6" down (approximate) ?
As z1b man says a photo / photos might help???
I think the gt or gpz 550/750's had the 'air assistance' forks :?: :?: :?:
