VM26SS Throttle slides

#1 PostAuthor: Mowjoe » Sat Mar 08, 2014 5:43 am

Is it an easy task to remove the slides in these Z900 carbs as I want to check the needle positions. Any help appreciated!

My Haynes manual has let me down again!!

You just need to remove the carb tops, then the shaft that connects them all together, then they're out.

Be careful undoing the small screws down inside the slide that keep the needle retained, they are soft!
I give them a sharp tap (screwdriver & hammer) and keep the pressure on the screwdriver whilst giving them a sharp twist. Hopefully that'll work for you as well.

Thanks for your reply GB

Can this be done with carbs fitted or take them off?

Working around those top frame tubes will be a real ball ache, if possible at all. But refitting the carbs if you have airbox rubbers will also be a ball ache.....

If you use individual filters (K&N etc) I'd have the carbs off. [/u][/i]

As GB said , the screws are soft .
Try a few different Phillips screwdrivers until you get best fit .
