MOT Questions on Custom Build

#1 PostAuthor: Royalratch » Fri Jan 10, 2014 11:39 am

Hi all.

can anyone help with this:

1) Do both front and rear brake need to have switches for brake light?

2) Do you need to have a kill switch - if so can it be 'hidden'

3) If you have keyless ignition (but push button starter) does the key fob transponder also act as kill?

Cheers in advance!

1. Bikes pre 1986 need only one brake light switch and can be operated from either front or rear ( Post 86 need both front and rear brake switches if originally fitted)

2. A kill switch is not compulsory .

3. Haven't a clue about the key fob transponder.

Awesome!

Thanks dude.

I think I can wire my Motogadget to kill engine with swipe of transponder when engine is running.

Cheers.

I misread the last question.
Thought you meant cutting the main power from the key fob.

So.

3. Yes! those remote starters will start and then stop the engine.

My black zed has never had a front brake light switch - Only the rear and has been through various MOT testing stations since 1996 and passed ??

Pigford, that's my alternative to "tail light".
I always always say "rear light" instead of "tail light".

OOPS! My balls up.
Should have said either front or back and have amended the post accordingly.
Off the front is preferable though as it's the one that's used the most.

Jimmock, I always always prefer red lenses on vehicle rear
lights to those modern clear translucent plastic one's.
