Smooth bore what jets,clip setting

#1 PostAuthor: GregZ » Mon Aug 27, 2007 9:03 pm

I am getting ready to install a set of 29 mm smoothbores with pods to the z. The bike is stock except for a V&H 4 into 1. I have a friend who insist I put the needle on the #4 clip and run 120 main jets. Is this Ok ?? Your opinions will be helpfull. Thanks gregz

Contact Dave Marsden at Z-Power as he fits 29mm Smothbores to his project bikes. Look for Z-Power on links page !

Do you know what the 29's came off? If they came off a Suzuki, then the slides may have 2.0mm cutaway versus the 1.5mm normally found on the zeds.

Assuming you have the 1.5 slides, I would normally start with 120 main jets, 20 pilot jets, needle clip in the middle (number 3 position) and the air screw 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out.

#4 clip setting is a little rich and it will probably be a little too rich for a stock setup with V&H pipe.
73 Z1 (turbocharged), a 74 Z1A, and some h***a's and Suzuki's...
