MK11 ROTOR

#1 PostAuthor: KeithZ1R » Sat Jun 23, 2012 4:49 pm

Due to some gross buffoonery during the simple task of repairing a starter clutch I now require a Mk11 rotor housing as the magnets that were!! in mine are now attached to every fecking metallic object in the garage   anybody help please :?: apparently Mk11 ST or any of those engines are the same

i am sure you could modify another rotor from a Kawasaki if you know what the dimensions are. most of the z1000s of that period use the same stator+ i think the only difference in the rotors is the taper ? which is riveted to the rotor. if you can find one with the same dimensions it shouldn't be that difficult to remove the centre of your old one + re rivet it to the replacement. it might be a good idea to ring electrex world + enquire if yours could be repaired with some new magnets

David thats the early style thats predominate across the range The one we want has the magnets in a kind of bell housing Z1bman yep that was an option as well as the rotor taper seems to be the issue only and i could have had it re-populated with magnetic material Chris the j unit reverts back to the smaller crank taper .... However it seem you only really need to know where to look  Im sorted now thanks everybody ....... Oh and another important lesson learnt and not only by myself over the years apparently :D
