Z650 Part

#1 PostAuthor: steve » Mon May 25, 2009 7:44 pm

I'm in the process of dismantling my Z650 front forks and can't stop the damper from spinning while turning the allen head bolt at the bottom of the lower fork leg...therefore, I could really do with either borrowing or buying the adapter piece that holds the damper in place. The part no is 57001-1011.
Would appreciate it if anyone can help.

Steve

Whittle the end of a broom handle at about 45degs.... leave a blunt end about size of a 5pence, then ram it down the fork onto the damper.... Clamp the broom handle in a vice and undo the bolt
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Maybe try a "Windygun" at local garage, plus broomhandle wedge.

I found with my z650 forks a impact driver (as keefleef suggested) was all I needed - 5 seconds each and all sorted. Got to be worth popping into a local garage...

gator grip is what you need!

What you need is a Gator grip socket they are cheap and it looks like a spark plug sicket and has loads of roller like needles inside that will grip a rounded nut.

I have found these better than the proper kawasaki tool.
