Engine numbers

#1 PostAuthor: martinz1000r » Mon Aug 18, 2008 11:05 am

Can anyone help me identify the donor bikes for these engine numbers? Tried to add the good top end of one on to the decent bottom end of the other yesterday only to find they did not fit!

I seem to take one step forward and 2 backwards whenever I step in the garage at the moment!

I've checked out Z1 enterprises site but unable to verify the numbers. Will check other sites and post reply if I find answer.

The highest engine number is from a Uni-Trak ZX GPz1100
The other two engine numbers are from the GPz1100 B2 model.
The uni-trak motor has 18mm wrist pins, whereas the B2 has 17mm wrist pins. Many engine internals are not inter-changeable.

Cheers Jack - that explains a lot then! Final question on this subject.....

The GPz 1100 A engine has damaged cases (broken mounting and a number of damaged threads particularly where the clutch cover bolts up. Could I swop over the crank, gearbox etc from this engine in to the good casings of the earlier B2 model

Cheers - Martin :?:

As far as I'm aware that should be o.k. but remember to use the uni-trak barrels as they are slighly taller to allow for the extra stroke of the 18mm pin/piston ??
The different bock heights are given in the genuine Kawasaki GPz1100 workshop manual and the ZX supplement.
