GPz1100 A head on to Gpz1100B barrels

#1 PostAuthor: martinz1000r » Thu Apr 10, 2008 12:31 pm

Would the head from a GPz1100A (unitrack) fit straight on to barrels and bottom end of GPz1100b engine?

Not exactly sure, it will fit no problems just check piston clearance the unitrak is a more closed chamber some times referred to as a bath tub chamber and the uni track pistons are a 18mm wrist pin so they wont go on the J or B rods. I actually prefer the A3 A4 head but thats always a good way to start an argument with Kawi engine builders .
I just compared an Arias J head 1166 piston against Wiseco 1166 A3 piston and it looks like it wont be a problem as the unitrak one is quite domed but it would pay to check. Maybe so-one has already done this.

With the uni-trak having 18mm wrist pins, this means a fractionally longer piston throw
But you're going the other way,so you'll get less compression me thinks
I'm pretty sure that Big Green Bust has got a uni-trak head on a 17mm bottom end and it's not 100% correct.

Thanks for the advice! I might just use the cams as I am told that they work really well on the earlier engines with a little gas flowing to the head.

I had a z1000j with a uni-trac head on the compression was shit but nothing hit, valves etc, chris is right , but i think if you fitted a B model 1170 kit you may run into trouble, DEBBEN PREFORMANCE is the place to ask questions. i was told that you could not do fit one but the z1000j ran fine.
