Will Z1000 Ltd 1980 calipers fit my Z1000A2

I have bought a pair of Pretech 6 pot calipers advertised on e bay. They came off a z1000Ltd 1980 vintage. The seller advised the bike had 11 inch discs. My ones are bigger. Will these fit my Z1000A2 or will they be back on e bay when they land

Padders. Even though seller said they came off a Ltd, I bet they didn't bolt straight on, do they include'dog-leg' brackets made for them ?
I take it Ltd has the same forks as A2 ? I know A1 had leading mounting calipers and A2 had them behind the leg.

I did check before buying that they were a straight bolt onto the fork leg 72/73mm centre to centre bolt fixing and had this confirmed. However they did say the discs were 11 inch. I pressed the buy it now and then measured my discs which are 11/1/2 ish.

Yes I know they are purple but I was going to have them polished this winter by Mikey.

Still worried that they will not fit if the disc's are bigger/thicker!! Any one have any ideas.

I think the obvious answer is offer them up, and if they don't look as though they'll bolt straight on you should be able to see what sort of extra bracketary will need to be fabricated. Perhaps as they are after market calipers they might require you to buy some discs to match. If the calipers you've bought don't float then you'll need to buy floating discs. It's hard to tell from the pick but they don't look like floaters.

Hopping they will fit straight on as the space between mounts is correct but its down to the angle. Tried looking for pictures of a Z1000 Ltd but had hoped someone in the club may have tried fitting Z1000 Ltd to Z1000A1 A2 before. I suppose as all will be revealed when they land. If they do not fit its e bay for them and a call to Z Power for some Lockheeds.

Caustic soda will get rid of the purple but be gentle with it and preferably soak them in a slight vinegar solution after

Think of all them non floating lockheeds we used to bolt on without floating disks just like Laverda and Ducati did with their Brembos If you have a fixed pad one side as per Z1000 calipers then they need to float but not with opposing pistons.

Coz I got it cheapo from Pretech, its was a r/h caliper
Good bit of kit too
Good bunch of chaps, and a bloke working there had a smart Z900 which he bought a Harris 4:1 for, ran the bike up for a few minutes, didn't like the noise it made, so sold it to me for ?120

Your Caliper looks to have the mounting holes at a differant angle or is it just the picture.

I thought LTD's had off-set axels....

Actually, I think it was the MKII that was off-set, not the older proper round cam cover bikes

Piggy you're guessing again! I don't know how you ever got those spanners but I hope no-one followed you advice !!!!
STs had forward mounted axle, Mk2s "normal" forks and Ian will be making up mounting plates if he wants to use those calipers.
