Hi
I've bought an APE low level engine breather cover for my Z1R. It's tapped for a breather pipe - 1/4" . Is there a particular thread I should look for? Tapered or straight?
Whats the best way to sort the rest of the breather? Just for a braided hose with a vent the other end or fit a catch tank? Debbens appear to do a catch tank but its a pricey option.

Fred,
I think the 1/4" thread you have is 1/4" NPT (I struggle with all this non metric stuff)
I bought one of these to fit mine (looking at my ebay purchase history)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AN-8-AN8-AN-0 ... 231a021915
Then finished the job with AN-8 Hose & fittings.
After buying several catch tanks & not having the room, I ended up modding a cheap aluminium flask (ebay circa £3.00)
www.obpltd.com is worth a look at for catch tanks. How much room do you have?

Righto
I think I've sorted the crankcase breather and catch tank out. It's had a dry fit and it'll look good when done.
I've just ordered the fittings from Torques following GB's recommendation and an oil cooler from Hel
One quick question.... do the fittings need any jointing compound or sealant and do you just need to tighten everything up?

Have a look at this............

I cut my hose with a small stainless cutting disc. I'd also recommend using some light oil on the threads & the barb that protrudes into the hose.
It's a very easy, but satisfying job..... Enjoy yourself!

One Step Forward.... Two Steps Back
Got the HEL 13 row oil cooler today... nice quality but of kit. A bit of simple fabrication to make it fit but I've struck on a problem I hadn't anticipated: The tacho drive cable is in the way.
Is there a simple solution? I don't really want the expense of having to buy an electronic tacho, but....
