As part of a rebuild on my z9, I decided to lift the head and barrels as it was smoking , and there was an oil leak from the cylinder head and a sweat of oil from the base gasket.
1 valve stem oil seal had disintegrated , a bit of weatr on the pistons and when I took all the valves out there was about 1mm wobble on each valve head when half-to 3/4 inserted.
Ive got another head ( off a written off bike , about 4000 miles on the clock allegedly) and when I check its valves in its own head - no wobble , but 1mm wobble when tried in the "worn" head.
So I guess the guides are all worn out.
Trouble is , the "new" head has 2 missing broken fins.
Is it more cost-effective to fit new guides to the old head, then get them reamed, and seats cut so seats match the stems then use my better set of valves?
Or get the good head's fins repaired ?
If so, who's good at this?
Thanks lads

PERSONALLY I'D GO THE FIN REPAIR JOB.... AS IT SEEMS THAT THE LOW MILAGE HEAD INTERNALS ARE SWEET ON THAT ONE & YOURS ARE TOAST . THEN A LIGHT VALVE GRIND & CHECK ..."FLUID FILL" THEN NEW VALVE SEALS . MAYBE "FIRST GO TO A BIKE BREAKERS & SEE IF YOU CAN SCROUNGE SOME HEAD FINS OF ANY HEAD SO THEY CAN BE RE-SHAPED TO MATCH THE ZED ONES & GET EM TIGED ON " THEN PROCEED FROM THERE.
