Rob Hunter Battery

#1 PostAuthor: Farmer » Sat Apr 04, 2015 5:29 pm

My local bike shop sold me one of these batteries, I thought something was wrong last week when it went flat, just put it down to starting bike lots but two five mile rides flattened it.

I put a multi metre on it and it was 9v switched off, 9.8v tickover, 11.8v at 3000 revs steadily going up to 13.8v at 6000 revs, so I am assuming the chargings good. :) . I asked at the time when they said it was the last one and that they had changed supplier, are these crap batteries then, I was then ignored, but now when I rang up I was told yes we have had some issues with them.

Anyone else used these ?. :)

You have a problem with the charging system. At 3K revs it should be 14.5 volt output, and at least 12+ volts ticking over. Is the battery fully charged?

Not when I was checking it, I had just started it on jump leads, I have it on charge overnight on a ctek charger on recondition mode. :)

Go for a motobatt mate, lots of people rave about them. bit pricier but they seem to last and don't need any maintenance. I have a box for a rob hunter battery, think it went on a z750 twin. never had much luck with batteries on kawasakis full stop.
