1. The lower bearing inside race has to be pressed onto the lower yoke steering stem, which is fine. I think it should be re-assembled in the following order (same as it was when I took it apart) i.e. First the metal washer which sits in the lower yoke, then the rubber dust seal which sits on the washer and into a recess of the bearing inner which is then pressed in place. This way the bearing effectively is pressed hard down on the bottom yoke via the metal washer ? I just want to check this as it looks and makes perfect sense to me but Z Power were saying that I should put the rubber seal on the yoke first then the metal washer and then the bearing inner ? I think they must have misunderstood me as such an arrangement would press the metal washer and bearing onto the yoke via a rubber ring that would compress but not fully i.e. the bearing would ?float? on the rubber, which can?t be right?
2. The original rubber seal has two rings and the depth is exactly that of the recess in the lower bearing inner, so it all fits together well. The Z Power rubber seal is the same diameter but has three rings and is greater in depth, so it will not allow the bearing to be pressed in contact with the metal washer and yoke. Z Power say this is the only seal they do ? I feel inclined to cut one ring off with a Stanley knife to reduce the depth ? anyone done this?
3. I believe there are 20 ball bearings to go in the bottom and 19 in the top bearing ? is that correct
