Sprocket bolts

#1 PostAuthor: RALPHARAMA » Wed Jan 09, 2008 8:26 am

Jack (London Calling) very kindly gave me a sprocket carrier/cushdrive to go with my NOS mag wheel procured from fleabay to replace the non kwaka item my bike came shod with. The square headed bolts used to bolt the sprocket to the old carrier were a tad too short so I got some A2 hex head bolts and machined down one of the flats in the mill to make them lock inside the carrier. The tab washer items were very elderly, rusty and mishapen. I had half a mind to try and make some new ones from a bit o 316 sheet, assuming I could source some material for the right price. I know I had a bit from around the top of the new cooker hood but I have a horrid feeling it was skipped in a tidy up dual fueled by SWMBO and my inability to find anything in a mountain of scrap generated by years of 'best not throw that out, might make something from it one day' The other day however I had forgotten the tab washers and bolted the sprocket on using loctite thread lock and only realised what I had done when I was tidying up and found the scabby tab washers.

Does the panel consider that the loctite should be enough or should I buy/make some tab washers :?: I'm not bothered by the originality aspect.

Locktite will be fine. Your A2 bolts may snap/shear but the nuts will stay on :!:
