Gear woes

#1 PostAuthor: Richard Q » Wed Dec 24, 2014 2:52 pm

Me again :??

I have the barrels back on, but prior too going too far, I thought it might be a good idea to check the gearchange worked. I get first, and back to neutral, but that's it.

Whipping the sump off to gain access I see this

It all seems to be in the right place, but the lower selector in the picture doesn't fully disengage the gear.

I have taken out the selector rod, and placed the selector in the track, but as you can see, it won't now engage in the selector drum.

Have I done something really stupid here?

you cannot engage 2nd gear without the gearbox spinning there are 3 x ball bearings in the gear which centrifugal out when the bike is moving

I bet they didn't spend most of the day taking bits off, then turning the bike upside down so they could get at it
